Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf claimed the US wants an "honourable exit" from the Middle East and emphasized strong, independent ties with Iraq during a visit to Karbala, as Oman and Japan called for urgent international efforts to keep the Strait of Hormuz open for safe shipping.
